Environmental Charter
Basic Principles
University Public Corporation Osaka was established to contribute to the development of local and international communities by providing comprehensive knowledge across various fields and conducting advanced specialized academic research. We view the city as a site for academic creation, a place to gather wisdom to address social issues, promote advanced research in collaboration with local communities and industries, and return these results to society.
In terms of the environment and in line with our purpose, we aim to fulfill our university social responsibility. This ensures rigorous environmental management on campus, active engagement in interdisciplinary research to solve environmental issues, and strong promotion of environmental activities to realize a sustainable society.
To this end, we aim to contribute new technologies for environmental conservation and improvement through the advancement of education and research, and to foster the human resources, the environmental professionals, who will lead the development of a sustainable society. Additionally, by collaborating with faculty, staff, and students, we aim to become a hub of intellectual and practical knowledge for environmental conservation and improvement in the local community, while promoting the same and environmental creation on campus, prioritizing safety.
Basic Policies
- Enhancement and Development of Education and Research
(1) By integrating various fields of research, we will conduct research and proposals that lead to innovations in the environment aimed at building a sustainable society.
(2) To nurture human resources who will lead the way in solving environmental issues and developing a sustainable society, we will enhance educational opportunities related to the environment. - Collaboration between Faculty, Staff, and Students
(1) All campus stakeholders will engage in open discussions across boundaries, aiming to create a safe and enriching campus environment.
(2) Students will take the initiative in environmental conservation, improvement, and creation on campus, while also engaging in collaboration with local communities. - Environmental Conservation, Improvement, and Creation
(1) Aware of our impact on the environment as a corporate entity, we will set shared environmental goals across our institution and work to ensure campus safety management and reduce our environmental footprint.
(2) By appropriately processing waste and wastewater generated from campus activities and ensuring the strict management of hazardous materials, we will work to conserve the campus environment.
(3) Through the promotion of renewable energy production and energy-saving initiatives, we will enhance the efficient use of energy, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050.
(4) To contribute to the formation of a recycling-oriented society, we will thoroughly implement the 3R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle) on campus and promote waste separation and the effective use of resources.
(5) We will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity. - Collaboration with Local Communities
(1) Through educational research activities, safety management, and practical actions for environmental improvement, we aim to become a public corporation that remains safe and open to the local community.
(2) We will actively build collaborative systems with local organizations, municipalities, and companies, and take action toward environmental conservation, improvement, and creation. - Contribution to the International Community
(1) We will actively engage in interdisciplinary and international communication, aiming to become a hub of education and research for building a sustainable society.
