Healthcare Centers (For Physical Wellbeing)
The Healthcare Centers provide a range of health-related advice and emergency treatment to protect students’ health. If it’s health-related, feel free to ask them anything.
If you are suddenly taken ill or injure yourself on the university grounds, go straight to the Healthcare Center. They will give you emergency treatment if you need it, or depending on your symptoms they may refer you to a hospital or clinic.
There are Healthcare Centers on several campuses. They are there for you, do not hesitate to contact them.

Guide to 2022 Regular Health Checkups
Under the School Health and Safety Act and the Student Medical Examination Regulations, university students are required by law to undergo a regular health checkup every year.
OMU conducts regular health checkups of all students, including incoming new students, every April with the aims of catching disease early on and preventing the spread of infection.

Availability of Health Consultations
The Healthcare Centers offer health advice from doctors specializing in areas including internal medicine, psychosomatic medicine, and orthopedics.Please feel free to go to them for advice.

Issue of Health Certificates
Students who have undergone a regular health checkup in April that has not identified any problems may obtain a Health Certificate from late May from one of the automatic certificate machines in the locations listed below.
Health Certificates can be issued until March 31 of the following year (or until the day before graduation for prospective graduates).

Partial Medical Fee Assistance Scheme for Injuries Suffered on University Grounds
Under this scheme, if you are injured during a class, extracurricular activity, or university event and you receive treatment for this injury at a hospital or clinic, the university will pay part of your co-payment for your medical expenses.
- Injury during class
- For an injury sustained during class, the university will pay up to an upper limit of 20,000 yen to help with medical expenses until you recover. However, this assistance is only for part of any medical expenses that exceed the insurance premiums for enrollment in the Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (“Gakkensai”) scheme.
- Injury during extracurricular activity/on-campus university event
- Assistance with medical expenses required on the day will be provided up to an upper limit of 10,000 yen. However, this assistance is only for part of any medical expenses that exceed the insurance premiums for enrollment in the Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (“Gakkensai”) scheme.

Mental Health Centers (For Mental Wellbeing)
At the Mental Health Centers, psychiatrists and clinical psychologists offer advice and counseling to students with mental problems. This service is available to students enrolled in Osaka Metropolitan University; an appointment is required.
Neuropsychiatric Counseling
Neuropsychiatrists are available to offer counseling. If you have any worrisome symptoms or would like advice on whether to consult a medical institution or not, feel free to use this service. Please be assured that your personal information will be kept in strict confidence.

Counseling
The Counseling Rooms are places that help all students lead a better university life. There are Counseling Rooms on several campuses, where counselors (clinical psychologists) are available for consultation. Don’t keep your worries or difficulties to yourself, but feel free to ask for advice.
A few examples:
- My studies aren’t going well
- Engaging with other people is really hard
- I’m worried about my personality
- I don’t have any motivation, and am anxious, restless, and irritable
- I’m so tired I can’t sleep
- I can’t find any goals for the future
- Anything else to do with any aspect of student life
All consultations are strictly confidential, so you can use the service with confidence.
