Department of Mathematics visited by President of Tunisian Mathematical Society
On September 6, 2022, Professor Ali Baklouti, who is a vice president of the University of Sfax and the president of the Tunisian Mathematical Society, paid a courtesy visit to OMU, where he met with Vice Presidents Hiroyuki Sakuragi and Makoto Tsubota, as well as professors from the Department of Mathematics and the Osaka Central Advanced Mathematical Institute (OCAMI).

Professor Baklouti is an accomplished mathematician and currently collaborating with Professor Hideyuki Ishi, Head of the OMU Department of Mathematics. Following introductions and a brief presentation about the University of Sfax, the group discussed previous and ongoing joint works done by Tunisian and Japanese mathematicians and the academic cooperation agreements between both universities.

“Our relationship with Japan is quite rich,” said Professor Baklouti.
During the discussion, Vice President Sakuragi expressed his admiration for the field of mathematics and noted the critical role it plays in his research in nuclear physics. Following the discussion and photo session to commemorate the visit, Vice President Tsubota, who also works in physics, noted that he and Professor Baklouti had many academic colleagues in common.
