On the third day of their visit to Vietnam (September 29), the OMU delegation* led by President Masahiro Tatsumisago held a joint symposium titled “Innovation in Orthopedics and Rheumatology” with the Vinmec Healthcare System (Vinmec) and VinUniversity (VinUni). Under the agreement signed between the three institutions in 2021, a new educational and research project was launched to nurture the next generation of medical leaders.

President Tatsumisago and Dean Kawada kicked off the symposium with their remarks, followed by research presentations from faculty members of the OMU Graduate School of Medicine, including Professor Motomu Hashimoto, Associate Professor Hidetomi Terai, Associate Professor Le Thi Thanh Thuy, Senior Lecturer Ryu Watanabe, and Doctor Naoki Takada.

The event continued with presentations by Professor Tran Trung Dung, Director of the Vinmec Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Center and Chairman of the Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Department at the VinUni College of Health Science, along with other experts from Vinmec and VinUni who shared their cutting-edge research in the fields of orthopedics and rheumatology. This was followed by an engaging Q&A session. 

This symposium is the latest in a series of collaborative activities between Vinmec, VinUni, and OMU. OMU looks forward to further expanding this collaboration with many more joint research endeavors.
