University of Leeds delegation from United Kingdom visits OMU
On September 28, 2023, Associate Professor Rob Sturman and Ms. Julia Wang from the University of Leeds visited OMU.
The University of Leeds has a close relationship with Osaka Prefecture through the "Osaka Global School" program, which hosts high school students from Osaka Prefecture for short-term study abroad programs during the summer holidays. The aim of this program is to develop global human resources.
The delegation was welcomed by Vice President Toshiyuki Matsui, Professor Masashi Sugano, Dean of the College of Sustainable System Sciences, and Professor Koichi Kise, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Informatics.
After an introduction of OMU by Vice President Matsui and the University of Leeds by Professor Sturman, Professor Kise gave a presentation on the Graduate School of Informatics, which was newly established when OMU opened in 2022. The University of Leeds is also focusing on Fintech, an area that combines IT technology with the financial sector to create new services. The University of Leeds delegation expressed interest in the Graduate School of Informatics’ research in artificial intelligence and data analysis, which led to a positive exchange of views concerning future research exchange.
