On November 27, 2023, Associate Professor Le Thi Thanh Thuy and Specially Appointed Lecturer Hoang Hai from the OMU Graduate School of Medicine, among 15 representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan, met with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong. The meeting convened at the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo, where participants were welcomed by Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu.

The event kicked off with a welcome address by Ambassador Pham, who introduced the representatives as distinguished Vietnamese intellectuals contributing significantly to the robust and enduring relationship between Japan and Vietnam. This was followed by presentations from five representatives, including Professor Le. Professor Le highlighted OMU’s contributions, particularly those of Dean Norifumi Kawada of the OMU Graduate School of Medicine, in fostering the Vietnam-Japan relation through promoting human resources development and technology transfer in the field of medicine. With her unwavering efforts, Professor Le has served as a bridge in establishing and sustaining a strong connection between OMU and Vietnamese institutions.

President Vo applauded the dedication of Professor Le and Dr. Hoang, emphasizing the importance of their commitment to the development of Vietnamese medical training in both the short and long run. The meeting concluded with gift exchanges and group photos.   

This meeting was part of President Vo’s official visit to Japan, commemorating the 50-year relationship between the two countries. The event was covered by multiple Vietnamese media outlets.
