World Bank Project: OMU hosts the second delegation from the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for training
OMU and the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) have an ongoing partnership agreement to jointly implement the World Bank's WB-Higher Education Improvement Project (HEIP), which aims to reform the education system at Cambodia’s leading university.
As part of the project, six members from RUPP’s engineering faculty were invited to OMU from November 24 to December 1, 2023, to receive training in research teaching skills and syllabus design, as a previous delegation did in May 2023. The delegation was divided into two groups: Four members joined the Data Science, Telecommunication & Electronic Engineering team and two members joined the Food Technology team.
The training was conducted under the planning and coordination of Professor Hideki Tode of the Graduate School of Informatics, and Professor Shigeo Takenaka of the Graduate School of Human Life and Ecology.
Each team visited laboratories, toured off-campus facilities, discussed curriculum and syllabi, and provided guidance to OMU students.
The Data Science, Telecommunication & Electronic Engineering team also visited Osaka Metropolitan University College of Technology, which is collaborating with this project, to interact with faculty members and give lectures to students.
The delegation also had the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to OMU President Tatsumisago. Dr. Tieng Siteng, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering at RUPP, who represented the delegation, gave a report on the overall progress of the World Bank Project.
In addition to this project, OMU and RUPP have continued to exchange students, and confirmed that they will further deepen their cooperation in the future.
