Indonesian delegation gains urban development knowledge during OMU-led training program
In our ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with Japan’s neighbors in Asia, Osaka Metropolitan University jointly hosted a Sustainable Urban Development Training Program from July 10 to July 12, 2024, for 17 participants from Indonesia.
Part of the J-PEAKS Asia Roundtable, the program was supported by the World Bank and Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). J-PEAKS is the Japanese government-related Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities, which started this year.
Bappenas Director for Development Funding Planning Mada Dahana was among the ministry staff and local government officials from Indonesia who took part in the three-day training session focused on sustainable finance and urban development methods in Japan.
From OMU, Professor Michihiko Sato from the Graduate School of Urban Management, Specially Appointed Professor Hironobu Azuma, and Specially Appointed Professor Yuta Hirayama were among the industry experts and faculty from various fields who gave lectures or conducted training workshops. Vice Presidents Norifumi Fujimura and Toshiyuki Matsui also took part as guests.
Participants engaged in lively exchanges of opinions during the lectures and interactive workshops, while also having the opportunity to make on-site visits to urban redevelopment projects in Osaka.
