Graduate School of Medicine team visits Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Prince of Wales Hospital

The Graduate School of Medicine sent a 12-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Prince of Wales Hospital on August 9, 2024. Representing five areas, the members included Professor Yasuhiro Fujiwara (gastroenterology), Professor Norifumi Kawada (hepatology), Professor Naoko Ohtani (pathophysiology), Associate Professor Le Thi Thanh Thuy (global education and medical sciences), and Associate Professor Daiju Ueda (artificial intelligence).

The meeting originated from a decade-long interaction between CUHK Professor Francis K.L. Chan, the former dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and OMU’s Department of Gastroenterology. The aim of this gathering was to promote the exchange of basic and clinical research on gastroenterology and hepatology.

Besides Professor Chan, among those attending from CUHK were Director of the Institute of Digestive Disease Professor Jun Yu, Head of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Professor Vincent W.S. Wong, and Director of the Medical Data Analytics Centre Professor Grace L.H. Wong.

Several lectures on gastroenterology and hepatology were presented by both universities, followed by in-depth discussions on possibilities for joint research.

The meeting closed with the hope that the gathering can be held on a regular basis, and that the next meeting can be scheduled for Osaka.
