Associate Professor Toshihiro Fujii wins 42nd Osaka Science Prize

One of our leading lights in physics continues to be in the spotlight. Associate Professor Toshihiro Fujii of the Graduate School of Science’s Physics Department and the Nambu Yoichiro Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics has been selected for the 42nd Osaka Science Prize for his observational research on ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays.

The Osaka Science and Technology Center (OSTEC) announced the prize on September 30, 2024. The Osaka Science Prize was established in 1983 by OSTEC and the city and prefecture of Osaka, with the aim of highlighting researchers under age 50 who are contributing to new developments and to human society. The prize is open to researchers in Osaka and the surrounding prefectures of the Kansai region.

“I am extremely honored to receive this great and traditional award,” the 39-year-old Fujii stated. “Cosmic rays are invisible to the eye, but they are all around us. I hope that this award will help more people know about cosmic rays.”
