National Taiwan Normal University president heads delegation to visit Nakamozu Campus
To strengthen ties, National Taiwan Normal University sent a delegation to the Nakamozu Campus on October 29, 2024.
The OMU welcome team included President Masahiro Tatsumisago, Vice President Toshiyuki Matsui, and Professor Emeritus Ikuo Fujii, while the five-member visiting delegation was led by NTNU President Cheng-Chih Wu, Vice President for International Affairs Yi-De Liu, and Associate Vice President for School of Continuing Education Hui-Ling Sung.
They discussed the further expansion and deepening of exchanges as academic partners, as well as the program Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation (SPRING) from Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
Both universities are comprehensive institutions in urban locations, and share other similarities such as size and number of students.
A luncheon after the discussion saw Associate Vice President Sung reminisce about her time as a visiting professor at the Nakamozu Campus. There were also enthusiastic inquiries about the history of the merger of Osaka City University and Osaka Prefecture University and the prospects for Osaka Metropolitan University.
After lunch, Vice President Matsui gave a campus tour, showing the delegation around newly built and under construction research centers, the library, the R&D Center for the Plant Factory, and the International House I-wing.
Like most visitors, the group was fascinated by the plant factory, which produces up to 6,600 heads of lettuce daily, shipping them to local supermarkets.
For the officials of both universities, the day was spent building a mutual relationship.
