The Osaka Metropolitan University Seminar was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on November 8, 2024. The event welcomed alumni in Indonesia, researchers collaborating with OMU, and local government officials.

OMU President Masahiro Tatsumisago opened the event with a greeting in Indonesian to signify the desire to connect and transcend language barriers. Our Global Strategy Division then made a presentation that highlighted the features and future vision of OMU, which was formed through the merger of Osaka City University (OCU) and Osaka Prefecture University (OPU).

This OMU event was the first of its kind in Indonesia where representatives from both OCU and OPU came together. Dressed in traditional Indonesian batik attire, a couple of dozen alumni and associates attended, fostering lively exchanges regardless of alma mater.

Looking ahead, OMU has high hopes for the further expansion of the overseas alumni network, using the university’s strength as a comprehensive educational institution.
