Two OMU professors named among Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers 2024
Professor Masataka Higashiwaki of the Graduate School of Engineering and Professor Kohki Akiyama of the Graduate School of Agriculture have been selected for Clarivate’s 2024 list of Highly Cited Researchers.
Curated by Clarivate, this list identifies researchers who have significantly impacted their respective fields by publishing multiple papers within the top 1% most cited over the past decade. This year’s roster includes 6,886 researchers from 59 nations and regions, with 78 from Japan. Being among the Highly Cited Researchers places them in the elite 0.1% of the global research community.
Professor Higashiwaki, who has been previously selected in 2021 and 2023, is a pioneer in the research and development of materials and devices related to power semiconductors and gallium oxide. Professor Akiyama conducts research on the understanding and application of symbiotic control substances in the system between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and plants.
Professor Masataka Higashiwaki
“I am delighted that our research papers on gallium oxide devices have been continuously cited and that I have been selected as a Highly Cited Researcher for a third time. I believe this is a sign that gallium oxide research and development is spreading worldwide, so I intend to continue to study and work towards the practical application of gallium oxide devices. In addition, I would like to say thank you to all of my many collaborators.”
About Professor Higashiwaki:
Professor Kohki Akiyama
“I am very honored to have been selected as a Highly Cited Researcher for 2024. I would like to thank all the students and collaborators in the laboratory who have worked hard with me on this research. There are still important substances that remain to be understood in mycorrhizal symbiosis. From now on, I will work even harder to contribute to the development of this field of research, and hope to contribute to society through my educational and research activities at the university.”
