President Masahiro Tatsumisago and Vice President Toshiyuki Matsui visited four universities in Taipei and the Ministry of Education in Taiwan from December 4 to 7, 2024.

The purpose of the visit was to promote academic exchange between Taiwan and Japan and to deepen ties between OMU and universities in Taiwan.

The OMU delegation visited partner institutions National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei Medical University, and National Taiwan University. At each stop, they introduced their respective universities, exchanged opinions, and participated in campus tours.

During the discussions, a meaningful exchange of opinions took place regarding the further promotion of student and researcher exchanges and the possibility of establishing new partnerships that take advantage of OMU’s wide range of academic fields.

In addition to the on-campus facilities, the OMU delegation also had the opportunity to visit the National Palace Museum and other cultural facilities in Taipei.

At the Ministry of Education in Taiwan, they exchanged opinions on university exchange between Japan and Taiwan. President Tatsumisago expressed his gratitude for the ministry’s invitation and expressed the desire for further development of educational exchanges. Ms. Yu-Wen Chen, Deputy Counselor of the Ministry of Education, also mentioned the desire for OMU and the universities in Taiwan to continue to cooperate closely with each other in order to deepen exchanges.

This visit lends support to continued close cooperation between OMU and universities in Taiwan so that meaningful educational and research exchanges can continue in the future.
