ReCAP research on hydrogen production makes front cover of “Sustainable Energy & Fuels”
A research team led by Professor Yutaka Amao, Director of the OMU Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis, published a paper entitled “Colloidal platinum nanoparticles dispersed by polyvinylpyrrolidone and poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) with high catalytic activity for hydrogen production based on formate decomposition.” The paper was featured on the front cover of “Sustainable Energy & Fuels,” published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
In this study, the research team succeeded in dramatically improving the efficiency of hydrogen production from formate, using platinum nanoparticles functionalized by cationic polymers. The design of the cover of the journal is based on the image of platinum nanoparticles functionalized by cationic polymers as the body of a firework, which, when ignited by formate, shoots out hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
