ReCAP research on bioelectrocatalytic methanol makes back cover of “Energy Advances”
The research team led by Professor Yutaka Amao, Director of the OMU Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis, published a paper entitled “Bioelectrocatalytic methanol production with alcohol dehydrogenase using methylviologen as an electron mediator.” The paper was featured on the back cover of Energy Advances, a journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Methanol fuel has garnered attention as an alternative lower carbon fuel for internal combustion and other engines. In this study, the team aimed to establish a method for synthesizing methanol from carbon dioxide. They successfully created bioelectrocatalytic methanol from formaldehyde using alcohol dehydrogenase as an artificial electron mediator. The back cover of Energy Advances features the image of a car running on methanol produced from carbon dioxide.
