ReCAP research on artificial photosynthesis makes front cover of “RSC Sustainability”
A research team led by Professor Yutaka Amao, Director of the OMU Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis, published a paper entitled “Phosphate-induced enhancement of fumarate production from a CO2 and pyruvate with the system of malate dehydrogenase and fumarase,” featured on the front cover of the journal “RSC Sustainability,” published by the Royal Society of Chemistry in January 2023.
The design of the cover shows CO2 and pyruvic acid, the raw materials used in this artificial photosynthesis research, on the right side of the scales, with fumaric acid and the plastic it is used to synthesize on the left. Furthermore, the equal balance of both scales is indicative of the carbon neutrality of the process.
