Welcome to the Bridge Engineering Laboratory
Our laboratory has been actively involved in the construction and maintenance of many bridges in Osaka City, including those managed by the Kinki Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, as well as Hanshin Expressway Company.
Our researches focus on developing structures that are not only mechanically rational but also aesthetically pleasing, functional, safe under various loads—including earthquakes and typhoons—harmonized with the surrounding environment, and easy to maintain.
A feature of our work is the integration of both experimental and analytical approaches in bridge engineering. Large-scale testing equipment with computer-controlled load systems and nonlinear analysis programs are used to understand the behavior of the structures. Recently, we have particularly focused on environmentally friendly bridge structures, components, and the development of connections, including high-strength bolts, further advancing the field of bridge engineering.
We welcome students interested in bridge engineering, particularly in the field of steel bridges, to study with us.
