Dr. Rupa Sarkar is the founding Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet Digital Health, a position she has held since December 2018. Her distinguished career spans both research and editorial leadership in prestigious scientific publications.

Dr. Sarkar received her PhD from Imperial College London, where she investigated microRNAs and RNA splicing in human stem cell differentiation under the guidance of Dr. Nick Dibb and Prof. Robert Winston. Following postdoctoral research in embryonic development and disease at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (USA), she joined Nature Research as an Associate Editor at Nature Protocols.

Her editorial career progressed to Senior Editor at Genome Biology, where she led the disease genomics area of the journal, before becoming Chief Editor of Nature Protocols, where she led the journal's editorial team.
