The joint research findings of Prof. Yutaka Amao and Honda R&D have been featured on the back cover of Energy Advances.
A paper titled "Bioelectrocatalytic methanol production with alcohol dehydrogenase using methylviologen as an electron mediator" co-authored by Professor Yutaka Amao (director, Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis) and a research group led by Honda R&D Co., Ltd., has been featured on the back cover of Energy Advances, a journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Methanol fuel is gaining significant attention as a low-carbon alternative to internal combustion engines and other engines. This research aimed to establish a method for synthesizing methanol from carbon dioxide and successfully developed an electrocatalytic method for producing methanol from formaldehyde using alcohol dehydrogenase as a biocatalyst and an artificial electron mediator. The back cover design envisions a car powered by methanol produced from carbon dioxide.
