The results of the joint research between Prof. Yutaka Amao and a research group led by Honda R&D were selected for the back cover of "Energy Advances" magazine

Professor Yutaka Amao (director, Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis) and a research group led by Honda R&D Co., Ltd., published a paper titled "Bioelectrocatalytic methanol production with alcohol dehydrogenase using methylviologen as an electron mediator" was featured on the back cover of "Energy Advances" published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Methanol fuel is attracting attention as an alternative low-carbon fuel for internal combustion engines and other engines. In this research, we succeeded in developing an electrocatalytic methanol production method from formaldehyde using biocatalytic alcohol dehydrogenase using an artificial electronic mediator with the aim of establishing a method for synthesizing methanol from carbon dioxide. The design of the back cover is inspired by a car that runs on methanol produced from carbon dioxide.
