The 2023 Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis Activity Report Meeting was held

 On Monday, March 4, 2024, a report meeting on the activities of the 2023 Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis was held at the Cultural Exchange Office of the Academic Information Center on the Sugimoto Campus. In the morning, there were reports on the research activities of each research division and a research presentation by Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Pengru Chen of the Laboratory of Catalytic Organic Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering.

 In the afternoon, there was a special lecture by Professor Kazuya Yamaguchi of the Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, research presentations by eight students, and finally a special lecture by Professor Osamu Ishitani, Graduate School of Advanced Science and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Hiroshima University.

 Finally, the award ceremony for the Student Activity Award and the Student Presentation Award was closed.

The 2023 Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis Student Activity Award

Mika Takeuchi (Graduate School of Science, Department of Chemistry, Master's Course, 2nd year)

I am truly honored to receive the Student Activity Award. Three years ago, I applied for a position with the intention of working on research on the use of carbon dioxide, and I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the professors and seniors who gave me careful guidance at all times, even though I did not know right or left at the beginning of my assignment. This year, I was blessed with the opportunity to participate in an international conference held locally, and I was able to expand my knowledge as a researcher even though I was a student. From this spring, I will get a job and work at a manufacturer, and what is required of me there will be different from when I was a student, and there may be fewer situations where I can directly apply what I have learned, but I will humbly strive to make use of what I have learned in the laboratory for three years in a different way.

Thank you very much for being selected for the Student Presentation Award. I think it is thanks to the guidance of many people since I was assigned to the laboratory. I would like to express my gratitude to Professor Amao, the staff of the laboratory, my seniors, and all the people who have been indebted to me on a daily basis. I am very pleased to have received recognition for my presentation on the construction of an amino acid synthesis system based on carbon-nitrogen bond formation driven by visible light, which I have been working on over the past year. Encouraged by this award, I will devote myself even more to my research activities after entering graduate school. Thank you very much.

I am very honored to receive the Student Presentation Award. I believe that I was able to receive this award thanks to the support of the students in my laboratory and the guidance and encouragement of Dr. Yamada and other faculty members. In particular, I am very grateful that I was able to balance my research and job hunting while job hunting was in full swing due to the early stage, because of Professor Yamada's understanding of job hunting and the support of my classmates. I am still inexperienced as a researcher. Therefore, we will continue to engage in research with the aim of further growth and research results. We look forward to your continued guidance and support.

I am very honored to receive the Student Presentation Award at the Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis Activity Report Meeting, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the professors who have been giving me guidance on a regular basis. I would also like to express my gratitude to everyone in the laboratory who took care of me in my daily research life. We have received valuable opinions on the research presented this time, and new issues have been discovered, so we will continue to work on it every day with the aim of further development from the next fiscal year. Last but not least, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to those who were involved in organizing this activity report meeting.
