To celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (ReCAP), we hosted a commemorative lecture at the Sugimoto Campus on Thursday, June 22, 2023. Concurrently, we launched the Joint Usage/Research Center for Catalysis, which has been certified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

President Masahiro Tatsumisago, joining us online, kicked off the first session by congratulating ReCAP on its 10 years of research achievements and expressing his hopes for continued growth. Professor Yasushi Sekine (Waseda University) then delivered a keynote speech on "Energy and Materials for Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050," which sparked a lively discussion during the Q&A session. Finally, Professor Yutaka Amao (Director, Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis), the director of the center, introduced the "10-Year Journey and Future Prospects," thanking all for their support and collaboration.

The second part of the event was dedicated to the kick-off symposium for the Joint Usage/Research Center for Catalysis. Professor Kenichi Shimizu (Director, Hokkaido University Institute for Catalysis) provided an overview of the participating institutions. Following this, researchers from both the Institute for Catalysis, Hokkaido University, and ReCAP presented their latest research findings.

With a strong turnout of both in-person and online participants, the event fostered lively discussions and generated enthusiasm for future research.
