On July 3, 2019, Osaka City University, in collaboration with Osaka City Crisis Management Office, Higashinari Ward Office, and Mitsutani Battery Technology Research Institute LLC (Mitani Battery), signed a collaborative agreement to conduct a demonstration test of disaster prevention storage batteries. A signing ceremony was held to commemorate this occasion.
Our university’s Center for Urban Disaster Prevention Education and Research (CERD) is actively engaged in collaborative community disaster prevention activities with multiple administrative districts in Osaka City. These activities include conducting community disaster prevention workshops and training programs for disaster leaders.
A demonstration experiment will commence in September to utilize disaster prevention storage batteries developed by Mitani Battery, a university spin-off, for charging smartphones at evacuation shelters during disasters. This is expected to accelerate the research and development of Mitani Battery's storage batteries and facilitate their broader adoption, contributing to the creation of safer and more resilient communities.
Overview of Integrations
- Conducting a field test of disaster prevention storage batteries
