Consuls-General Vu Tuan Hai and Kieu Manh Linh from the Consulate-General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Osaka visited the Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis.
On April 20, 2018, Consul-General Vu Tuan Hai and Consul Kieu Manh Linh from the Consulate-General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Osaka, along with President Seiichi Nishimura and Director Masaru Kasahara of the Japan-Vietnam Kansai Friendship Association, visited our university and paid a courtesy call on President Arakawa (Osaka City University).
Our university signed a memorandum of understanding with the Consulate-General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Osaka in December 2015, covering areas such as education, research, and industry-academia-government collaboration. Last year, we held a lecture at our university by the former Consul-General, Mr. Chang Duc Binh, as part of our ongoing exchange.
On that day, Consul-General Vu Tuan Hai and Consul Kieu Man Linh first toured the Sugimoto Campus, visiting the Osaka City University Media Center, the Tanaka Memorial Hall, and the Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis. Afterward, they held a meeting with President Tetsuo Arakawa, Vice President Odanaka, and Vice Director Kubo of the International Center in the president's office.
Consul-General Hai expressed his admiration for our university’s lush green campus and well-equipped facilities, remarking that it is an excellent environment for research and learning. He also emphasized that the collaboration between our two institutions has been extremely meaningful and expressed his desire to further deepen our cooperation in various fields, contributing to the advancement of friendship between Japan and Vietnam.
President Arakawa expressed his desire to further promote collaborative activities with our university and Osaka, as well as to establish an organic network centered around our graduates who are now active in Vietnam, with the aim of attracting more international students and promoting academic exchange between researchers.
This was followed by a welcome banquet held at Nonohana House, attended by Vietnamese researchers and international students enrolled in the Graduate School of Medicine, as well as President Teiichi Nishimura and Executive Director Masaru Kasahara of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association. The Consul General exchanged friendly words with Vietnamese researchers and students, and had a lively conversation about their studies at our university and life in Osaka. At the end of the event, President Arakawa handed over souvenirs such as "President's Stew" to the visitors, and the event ended amicably.
