Two related international conferences were held in Thailand in December 2024. One is GIS- IDEAS (GeoInformatics for Spatial-Infrastructure Development in Earth & Allied Sciences) 2024 [1] which is organized in collaboration with premier institutes located in Asia including OMU and the other is FOSS4G-Asia [2] which is an international gathering of the Asian Free and Open Source Software for Geoinformatics Community.

Two OMU faculty from Graduate School of Informatics, one OMU professor from Graduate School of Science and three doctoral students from Graduate School of Science achieved remarkable results and received awards for outstanding contributions.

Prof. Venkatesh Raghavan, Department of Geosciences, Graduate School of Science was awarded the 4^th David Hastings Award at FOSS4G-Asia 2024 for his contributions to Free and Open Source Geoinformatics in Asia.

Doctoral student, Mr. Mitsunori UEDA from Department of Geosciences, Graduate School of Science received Best Poster award at GIS-IDEAS 2024.

Doctoral student, Mr. Tran Tuan Lam from Department of Geosciences, Graduate School of Science received Best Oral Presentation award at GIS-IDEAS 2024.

Doctoral student, Mr. Ibrahim Danlami Mohammed from Department of Geosciences, Graduate School of Science received Best Oral Presentation award at FOSS4G-Asia 2024.
