Organization

Basic Information

Volunteer and Civic Activity Center V-station is an organization that supports people who are doing their best in volunteer activities. It is set up on three campuses belonging to Osaka Metropolitan University, and about 500 students and Civics are registered and active through V-station.

In addition to creating opportunities for volunteer activities (hosting events to introduce volunteers by inviting volunteer recruits to the university, etc.), we also plan events aimed at promoting exchanges with the local community, and conduct activities that are open to the local community.

Moreover, we participate in the liaison council of university volunteer centers in the Kansai region.

History of V-station

V-ayumi

In February 2007, a student circle "V-MATE" was established and started activities wishing to expand the circle of volunteers among Osaka Prefecture University students.

In November 2009, V-MATE became "Osaka Prefecture University Volunteer Center", a university-authorized volunteer center. In September 2016, its name changed into "Osaka Prefecture University Volunteer and Civic Activity Center", the Civic activity base by Sakai City.

In 2018, "Children and Families, Youth Support Group Award" was given by Cabinet Office Minister of State for Special Missions.

In 2019,  special award of "Sakai Civic Activity Collaboration Award" was given.

In April 2022, because of the university integration, V-station made a fresh start as "Osaka Metropolitan University Volunteer and Civic Activity Center".

The features of V-station are "a place where each person’s individuality is accepted and can be freely demonstrated".

Each of them carries out their own activities, and the V-station plays a role like a platform to support them.

It is also reflected in the origin of the name of V-station, "a place where trains called students gather and leave".

Main Roles of the Volunteer Center

The Volunteer Center has various functions and roles in order to support not only students but also Civics.

* Some functions may not be available depending on the campus.

Interacting (chattering, chatting, etc.)

Visitors can enjoy chatting with each other. This will lead to information exchange, strengthening friendships, and increasing motivation.

Consultation window

You can ask questions such as "I want to try volunteer work", "I want to recruit", "I want to ask questions or make requests about activities". Volunteer coordinators and student staff will answer in person or over the phone. Please feel free to contact us for a wide range of consultations.

Provision of conference and meeting space

Equipped with fixed or movable tables and chairs, meetings and conference can be held. Students as well as Civics can use it freely.

Dissemination of information such as flyers and pamphlets

The Volunteer Center has a bulletin board on which many posters, such as information on activities and recruitment, are displayed. In addition, you can get flyers and pamphlets from the shelf. Of course, you can also add posters prepared by the group.

Storage of items used for activities

Some activities are carried out for a specified period (summer vacation, etc.), and many items are dormant. Store such items at the Volunteer Center so you don't have to worry about losing them.

book corner

There is also a library corner that collects mainly donated books, and anyone can browse freely. Topics are not limited to volunteers, but we have books in a wide range of fields.
In addition, we sometimes leave records of past activities in clear files and binders, so you can refer to them freely.

Student Staff

V-station is a unique university organization operated jointly by students and faculty. The student staff of V-station, which consists of volunteer students, is developing various activities such as planning and publicity from the perspective of students. The purpose of their activities is below:

  • Grow and promote volunteer activities.
  • To embody the purpose of the V-station at the forefront, which is to raise students' interest in social issues and make them aware that they are the ones who can solve those issues.

In doing so, student staff values "their own feelings as a volunteer."

  • What kind of people's voices encouraged me?
  • What kind of situation was hard for me?
  • Why am I still volunteering?

We believe that the words that come out of those experiences will be the best support (called "V coordination") to encourage students who are about to start volunteer activities and students who are tired of progressing.

In addition, the student staff also interacts with other universities in the Kansai area and nationwide.
